Yes — You Can Charge for Your Women’s Circles. And You Should.

I’ve heard it too.

That quiet, persistent narrative that says:

“If you really loved this work, you wouldn’t charge for it.”

That because gathering women in circle is an ancient practice and a beautiful act of community care, it should be offered for free.

That holding space for connection, healing, and ritual is a calling, not a business.

But here’s the thing:

Love isn’t enough of an exchange.

Love Doesn’t Pay for Venue Hire.

It doesn’t cover the hours you spend planning, setting up, or packing down.

It doesn’t pay for the cushions, candles, tea, and materials.

It doesn’t compensate for the emotional labor of holding space for grief, rage, tenderness, and celebration.

And while love is a powerful motivator, it isn’t sustainable if it leaves you depleted, burnt out, or out of pocket.

Women’s Work Has Been Undervalued for Centuries

We already do the lion’s share of unpaid labor in our homes, our communities, and our social structures.

Let’s not replicate that dynamic in the spaces that are supposed to nourish us.

Your wisdom, time, and energy have value.

Your circles change lives.

Your work deserves to be supported.

And it’s not just okay to charge for your circles — it’s necessary if we want this work to thrive.

It’s Time to Break the Narrative

So if you’ve been sitting on the fence about asking for money for your circles because you’re worried about what people might think — let this be your permission slip.

You can be heart-led, passionate, and devoted to this work, and also run a business.

You can create sacred, ancient, healing spaces and charge for them too.

They aren’t mutually exclusive.

They’re both acts of reclamation.
